When you learn a lesson, you naturally stop feeling any reaction to the situation whenever it presents itself in any way again. Like for instance, I no longer feel the need to prove myself or stand up for myself when someone challenges what I know. I simply let it be. As for wanting to go back to a time long ago, you don't. You want to feel what you did a long time ago. You can experience that feeling whenever you wish to through meditation and you can work to focus your intent into having the cosmos create a situation where you can physically experience that again.
Change can also bring about even better situations, but when you focus on the past and you try to drive yourself to a place in the past, you'll loose your hold much more quickly on ever obtaining that, than if you just accept how things are now and accept that you can work towards a more positive now through intent and manifestation. When you allow yourself to flow, your possibilities are endless. Let your emotions flow like water and enjoy the now. The grass is always greener on your mother's side, said the divorced man to his son. lol Laugh a bit and enjoy how that feels. Laughter makes even the most painful day feel good.
I had nightmares for about 5-10 years after I encountered a poltergeist in the house I grew up in. You know the one I mean. Involving a certain repetitive argument that took place with my brother and I over the years.
So, I know how strong a memory can get and how annoying it can be. If you learn to love the problem, its no longer a problem. You can also learn to accept it in other ways as well and it will not be a problem any longer.
